Children's loose teeth often come out on their own while the child is eating or brushing their teeth. However, baby teeth sometimes need a little extra help to come out. Here are some tips on how to remove a stubborn loose tooth safely and painlessly.Chew On Crunchy FoodsGiving your child crunchy foods to eat, such as apples or carrots, is a great way to encourage a stubborn tooth to come out. Chewing on these crunchy foods will not only loosen the tooth enough to come out, but these foods also help keep your child's teeth clean. Plus, it is always a bonus when kids eat more fruits and vegetables! Wiggle With the Tongue or GauzeSome baby teeth might need more wiggling to come out than others. If your child's loose tooth is stubborn, have them use their tongue to gently wiggle the tooth as much as possible. They can also hold a piece of gauze between their thumb and index finger to wiggle the tooth enough to loosen it. If your child is afraid to loosen their own tooth, you can help them by washing your hands and wiggling the tooth with your fingers or with the gauze. Do Not Force ItIdeally, baby teeth should fall out on their own when their roots completely dissolve. If your child's tooth is slightly loose, but not loose enough to fall out naturally, it might not be ready to come out. Pulling a loose tooth too early could result in pain, bleeding, or even infection. You should never forcefully remove a baby tooth using a pair of pliers or other methods you may have heard about in your own childhood.
