Questions Your Kids May Ask About Oral Health That We Should AnswerKids are full of questions, luckily for you, our helpful staff is full of answers to those questions! If your child is feeling stressed or nervous about a trip to our office, feel free to give us a call and we're happy to help answer questions that they may have. In the meanwhile, here are a few of the common questions that we hear from kids.

Most Common Questions
Children are naturally curious and when faced with an unfamiliar situation may ask questions that we as adults may feel are silly or have obvious answers. To a child, they're very valid questions, and we work hard to address those questions and help put your child at ease.

Does going to the dentist hurt? This is the most common question that we get from kids. The answer is honest, sometimes, it can hurt, if you have a cavity or some other problem that we need to address, but a regular cleaning doesn't hurt. If we do have to fill a cavity, we will gently and compassionately walk your child through the process to help them understand the procedure.

Do I have to go to the dentist? Why? If your child is afraid, they may ask why they need to come see us. We like to tell kids that no, they don't have to come see us, but if they don't, they'll run into bigger problems as an adult. Good oral health begins early and will help your child keep a healthy mouth throughout their lifetime.

Why is brushing and flossing so important? Lots of teens ask this, and it's understandable. They're learning to make their own way and they begin to question a lot of routine things that they've always done. Maintaining good oral habits through the teen years is essential to lifelong great oral health.

If your child has any additional questions, please give our office a call and schedule their next cleaning. We'll be happy to address any concerns with them then!
My daughter was a little nervous to have her dental work done but everyone in the office was super friendly and very reassuring and that helped her nervousness go away. Thanks for the excellent dental experience. ~ Lilyana G.
