If you take the time to floss with your kids, you can instill good oral habits in their routines starting at a young age.
They will see you doing it on a daily basis, and learn that they need to do it daily, too. This can help instill habits that are going to last into adulthood to help your child keep their mouth as healthy as possible.
Being a Good Example Has Its Benefits
When you take the time to set a good example for your kids, you are also able to reap the benefits. It is important for everyone to floss at least once per day. So if you take the time to do it once per day with your child, you get the benefits of keeping up with flossing, too.
Your child learns that you should floss each day, and they see how to do it properly when you do it. Then, they understand that no matter their age, it is important that it remains a daily habit.
When you go out of your way to make flossing into an activity that is part of the daily routine, it becomes something your child will also look forward to. They need to see you actively doing it if you want them to understand that it is something important to do now and into the future.
With fewer than 10% of adults who floss on a daily basis, the best way for this to change is to start with the next generation by setting a good example. It will help your generation and theirs change the face of oral health.
