Temporary Anchorage Devices (TAD)

Posted on 3/15/2016 by Fariba Mutschler
Many people remember with horror having to wear headgear as children. Now there is an alternative to headgear: a Temporary Anchorage Device or TAD. These TAD are modified dental implants that are designed to be removable.

Made out of titanium, they permit movement of teeth in ways that were previously extremely difficult or impossible without surgery. TAD can help correct deep bites, open bites, protrusive incisors, and molars that have erupted abnormally.

Many different appliances have been developed to treat jaw discrepancies such as small lower jaw and normal upper jaw (Class II malocclusion). Now TAD treatment can more easily and predictably treat these problems.
Placement of Temporary Anchorage Devices is quick and nearly painless. We almost always place them using no shots, just a topical anesthestic gel.

If you think your child might need braces in Portland, or want to learn more about TAD’s, then give us a call at 971-470-0045 for a free consultation.
Great Grins for Kids gets our highest rating. The dentists and staff are highly professional, yet compassionate and friendly. We have had experience with other dental practices that don't measure up. Getting our kids to Great Grins was a wonderful upgrade for our family. You set the bar very high! ~ Annabelle C.
